In the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, once you declare your major, you should see an academic advisor from your major department. Departments assign advisors to students in different ways. But, all have one person who is the key contact for students who need advising.
If you have questions about advising or the major, start with the key contact for your major. They can be found in our Advising Directory.
Want to graduate in four years? Your academic advisor is the one person on campus who can help you to stay on track for graduation. You should plan on meeting with your advisor at least once a semester to receive advice on academic planning and how to make the most out of your time at Mason. You will not only talk about course selection, but internship and research opportunities, how to get involved in student activities and leadership opportunities and much more. Working with your advisor is just as important as seeing a doctor every year-your academic health will not be the same without it!
