What is your involvement on campus?
I am the President of Zeta Tau Alpha. I enjoy this experience because of the networking opportunities and the ability to lead a diverse group of women on campus. I also serve as the Attorney General for Student Government. This allows me to work on student outreach programs. We are working on a Student Bill of Rights in hopes to incorporate into the existing University policies.
What has been your favorite class?
My favorite class was “Money, Free Markets, and Economic Policy” with Steve Pearlstein. It was challenging and made me think from an economist point of view. It was very different from some of the other classes in my major. It was rewarding to have a writer from the Washington Post as an instructor.
Who is your favorite professor?
My favorite professor is Dr. Eugene Tatie who I had for CRIM 310 “Introduction to Intelligence Analysis”. I followed that up by taking his GOVT 347 “International Security” class. I took these classes last year in fall 2012 and spring 2013. He challenged student to look at problems as they would in the intelligence field. It helped that he is witty and cares about the success of his students.
What are you most excited about for the 2013-2014 academic year?
I am really excited about the Honors Government program. So far my undergraduate experience has given me the tools to complete research and think on my own up until this point. Now this Honors program allows me to do this work under the guidance of Dr. Suzanne Robbins.
What are your career goals after graduating from Mason?
Currently I am a Pathways Intern for the Department of the Air Force, which prepares me for a career in international security. I hope to continue in this field and would ultimately love to pursue a doctorate degree focusing on national security.
What has been your most meaningful experience at Mason?
When I was a Patriot Leader in the summer of 2011. I met so many diverse students and families. This position allowed me to see the University and all of its resources from a different perspective.
What advice do you have for new Mason students?
Take advantage of all the resources available to your through your department. There are so many valuable opportunities available to students. Student should try to interact with professors outside of the classroom whenever possible.
Who is the more intimidating Mason mascot, The Patriot or Gunston?
Gunston is fierce, covered in green fuzz and exudes victory.
