The faculty and staff of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences join with the rest of the George Mason University family in mourning the loss of one of our students. Patrick Sibley, an integrative studies major and a celebrated athlete, died in an accident on Sunday, August 18.
"Patrick was a valued member of our community," said Lisa Gring-Pemble, dean, New Century College. "He was outgoing, respectful, and admired by his peers, and a team player in every situation. His smile, ever at the ready, lit up our classrooms— our hearts and prayers are with his family."
Memorial plans have been made in Patrick's hometown, Natick, Massachusetts.

Locally, the Office of Intercollegiate Athletics has announced that a memorial service to celebrate Patrick’s life, his time at George Mason and as a student and a member of the men’s volleyball team, has been scheduled for Wednesday, August 28 at 6:30 pm. The service will be performed by campus priest Father Peter Nassetta at Robert Bellarmine Chapel on Roberts Road.
