What is your involvement on campus?
I am a sister of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority.  I am a member of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS) Student Ambassador Team.  I also serve as a first-year academic peer mentor for CHSS.  This position gives me the opportunity to help first-year student better acclimate themselves in the Mason community through academic success and campus involvement.

What is the most exciting aspect of this current year?
I am preparing to enter the real world.  I look forward to applying for jobs and going on exciting interviews.  I’ve held previous internships, which helped prepare me for upcoming full-time opportunities.

Can you tell me about your undergraduate internship experience?
During my sophomore year I interned with the Economic Department of a local government.  I helped them build their website and manage their social media.  I worked to promote tourism to increase revenue in the area.  During the fall 2015 semester I interned with the nonprofit organization, SHAPE America.  The goal of the organization is to promote physical and health education for grade school students throughout the country.  We partnered with Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move” campaign.  I managed the organization’s social media platform and helped bolster membership. Through these experiences I learned about the importance of time management and keeping a disciplined work schedule.  I also learned about the importance of networking and the associated opportunities it provides in the professional world.

What is your favorite undergraduate course at Mason?
I took Communication 391: Writing for Public Relations in the spring 2015 semester.  We learned how to master all different public relations writing styles that are used in the field.  All of the writing assignments from the course was used to create a professional portfolio for use in future job and internship interviews.  I have used this same portfolio on several occasions.

What are your career goals after graduating from Mason?
My dream job would be to work in the public relations department for either a sports team or larger sports organization.  In a perfect world I would be working with the New York Mets.

Do you have a favorite current or former Mets player?
David Wright has always been one of my favorites since my childhood.  You have to show some love to the team captain.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you end up?
I love traveling and I would like to visit the Amalfi coast in Italy.  My family has ancestral roots in that area.  I would love to relax on the beaches and use the Italian language skills I developed on in high school and here at Mason.
