What is your involvement on campus?
I am a student coordinator for the Office of Orientation and Family Programs. I also served as a Patriot Leader the previous year. I created many of the programs at featured at new student orientation. Last semester I was the Vice President of the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) headed by Beth Jannery.

What is the most exciting aspect of this current year?
I am excited to get into more of the upper level Communication courses. My junior year is also a year of growth and new opportunities. I also plan to study abroad in Montreal this summer and will study French.

What is your favorite undergraduate course at Mason?
Communication 305: Foundations of Intercultural Communication was my favorite course. The class exposed me to a great deal of new information about how people from different cultures communicate.

Who is your favorite instructor?
Dr. Star Muir from my Communication 300: Foundations of Public Communication course was fantastic. He teaches rhetorical communication. He has a great personality and makes class fun. He even sings songs and plays on his guitar.

What are your career goals after graduating from Mason?
I would like to go to graduate school and earn my Master’s degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs. I hope to gain as much experience as possible and work at a college or university somewhere on the east coast.

What advice do you have for new Mason students?
The advice I typically give is that college is what you make of it. You have to be motivated and driven to create your own experience. Don’t always compare yourself to other students. It’s about what you want. There is no right or wrong way. Do something that helps you define our own experience.

What would you do with an hour of free time away from classes?
I would spend time with friends. Everyone is so busy with school. It would be great to just talk and make dinner together.

What celebrity would you like to have dinner with at some point?
I would love to hang out with Ellen DeGeneres. She is fun but also a strong female role model.
