What is your involvement on campus?
I am a part of Golden Key International Honor Society and Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society. Both of these organizations provide a wealth of resources for academic engagement. Recently, I participated in Good Deeds Day. It is a day to help others and give back to the community. I was also a part of Wellbeing Day to promote personal wellbeing for each member of the Mason community.
What has been your favorite class?
My favorite class so far was NCLC 204, Leadership Theory and Practice with Dr. Julie Owen. It was useful to learn how leadership is applied in the real world. The class studied various organizations and their leadership profiles. The instructor is extremely intelligent and incredibly passionate about the subject material. Her positive attitude also helped make the class enjoyable.
What is the most exciting aspect of this academic year?
I have been challenged with my academic work and that is an exciting experience. I love to learn and being challenged makes it even more meaningful.
What are your career goals after graduating from Mason?
I intend to go to medical school after finishing my undergraduate career. Once I establish myself, I plan to start my own medical practice. I would also like to practice medicine in a third-world country to spread the benefits of modern medical technology. My hope is to provide care for those who can’t afford it on their own.
What has been your most meaningful experience at Mason?
My first year of college, I went on a class field trip for one of my New Century College classes in the Cornerstones program. The focus of the class trip was to learn about environmental awareness. We ventured into the woods and studied seasonal changes and the effects on wildlife.
What advice do you have for new Mason students?
I would recommend that students take advantage of all of the resources on campus. There are so many friendly and helpful people that are willing to assist students.
What would you do with an hour of free time away from academic work?
I would pick up a book and read for enjoyment. I love fantasy novels, so I would read something by J.R.R. Tolkien.
If you could have dinner with one real or fictional figure who would you choose and why?
I would dine with Dr. Benjamin Carson. He is a neurosurgeon and serves as my inspiration to pursue a career as a physician. I read his biography when I was in the seventh grade. We would share a nice sushi platter.
If you could travel to any destination in the world, where would you visit?
I would travel to Japan. The Japanese people have a rich history and are very involved in cutting-edge technology. And of course, I would like to eat some more sushi.
