The Department of Communication would like to congratulate Julia Cowell on the acceptance of her COMM 491 Honors paper. Titled "Is It Friendship or Fiction? An Investigation of Parasocial Interaction in the Digital Age," it is the only undergraduate paper from GMU accepted to the 2nd Annual Undergraduate Scholars Conference at the Eastern Communication Association in April.
Ms. Cowell graduated from GMU in January 2012 with a BA in COMM, concentration in Media Production & Criticism. She worked closely with her mentor, Dr. Catherine Wright, on her Honors paper in 2011.
The Honors in Communication Sequence offers eligible undergraduate students the opportunity to participate in research and to earn the Honors in Communication designation on their degree.
